Come join us for dinner or just drinks and enjoy a late Sunday afternoon filled with romantic jazz music in the piano bar setting on the second floor of Pauper's pub. Pauper's Pub in a popular haunt of many local Toronto actors, writers and artists. On Feb 10th 2013 THE SINGER'S JAZZ SERIES features singer/songwriter Michele Mele and a wonderful line up of jazz vocalists and our very special guest; spoken word artist, Reiner Schwarz. In our Valentine's Show we'll be performing a variety of jazz standards, duets, poetry accompanied by the great Norman Amadio on grand piano, Duncan Hopkins on double bass and Cam Jobson on drums. Pauper's offers drink specials between 3:00pm-6:00pm, so book your table reservation early.

Michele Mele is one of Canada’s promising vocalists. Michele Mele is a natural, highly connective and communicative performer and composer. Neil Kristian Parent is a proud father of 4. He loves arranging and composing music and has an eternal passion for listening to and learning music. He has enjoyed singing and performing all over the world with his closest friends in the acapella group 'FATE' and all over the greater Toronto area with the 'Uptown Swing Band'. He was the team captain for Airborne11, one of the winners on the Global television show 'Canada Sings'. The prize was a $10,000 donation to a charity of their choice - Ronald McDonald House. Most recently Neil arranged and recorded with Airborne11 for Sony Music Canada's artist Emilio Fina who was a 'Canada's got Talent' finalist!

Reiner Schwarz is a cool, edgy jazz poet and spoken word artist. Noted and widely reviewed for his innovative approach to radio and television in Canada during the past four decades. Reiner’s experience includes ventures into media writing, production and some 50 appearances as an actor in television dramas and films.

He has been described as a ‘working class hero’ Rolling Stone Magazine.

Reiner is currently writing fresh spoken word material, music and creating visual art. He has traveled extensively and draws from these backgrounds for his art. Themes and concepts follow continuing concerns regarding the human condition social justice and survival of the planet. Reiner makes his debut back from the wilderness at Hugh’s Room with The Singer’s Jazz Series – Valentine’s Show Feb 13th, 2013 as the MC and spoken word artist.

Julie McGregor is a soulful jazz vocalist and the host of the Singer’s Jazz Series who draws her audiences in with her storytelling style. Julie has been collaborating with jazz pianist, Norm Amadio for the past five years performing and writing music. Julie was nominated for Best Jazz for the New Music Awards for 2011.

Norman Amadio
Our esteemed piano player is at the center of The Singer’s Jazz Series. Norm was the first Canadian to play Birdland in New York City in1956. Amadio worked with most all of the greatest artists from the jazz era. Norman was the musical director for the CBC on various Television shows for over 40 years. He has accompanied some of the greatest jazz and musical stars of our time, from Judy Garland to Dinah Washington. Globe and Mail Aside from his own projects, he is a popular sideman for a wide variety of artists such as Dianna Krall, Mark Murphy, Norma Winstone, Lester Bowie, Kenny Wheeler, John Hicks, Peter Appleyard, Ed Bickert, D.D. Jackson, Scott Hamilton, Houston Person, Warren Vache and Sam Rivers.
